The West eLearning Center is a free online training resource from West, a Thomson Reuters business. It contains more than 200 short lessons covering a broad array of subjects that Westlaw customers and students can take at their own pace … whenever and wherever it’s convenient for them.

Subjects include basic to advanced Westlaw searching, advanced legal research, specific practice-area research, and using solutions products such as West BriefTools.

Westlaw has chapter-specific Bankruptcy databases

Westlaw has chapter-specific Bankruptcy databases that contain both briefs and trial filings relating to specific Bankruptcy chapters.

BKR-CTDOCS-C7 has documents relating to Chapter Seven cases, and the other available databases are as follows: BKR-CTDOCS-C11, BKR-CTDOCS-C13 and BKR-CTDOCS-OC, which covers miscellaneous chapters.

You can click High Profile Cases, Courtroom Videos and Trial Docs under What’s New on Westlaw at the Westlaw sign-on page.

The newly redesigned High Profile Cases page on the west.thomson.com site is displayed, with links to streaming media, briefs, trial court orders, and other documents in high-profile civil and criminal cases. This page is updated as necessary to incorporate new cases and documents. To view a document, you must sign on to Westlaw.

Hard to find Definitions in Rise of American Law Dictionaries on Westlaw

If you can’t find a definition of a term in BLACKS, you can search in Rise of American Law – Dictionaries and Words and Phrases (ROAL-DICT) to scan a number of older dictionaries at once.

You can find definitions of terms from old English law, Roman law, Indian/Hindu law, etc. For example TRINIUMGELDUM does not appear in BLACKS, but there are 3 entries for it in ROAL-DICT.
